Summary

Wow !!! Owning some high-end digital front ends, I am amazed at the "bang for your buck" value received in my purchase of the Sony MZ-NE410. My Meridian and my Classe` players have nothing to fear however, with a descent set of "cans", ( I used a pair of Grado SR-125s'), the reproduction of downloads from my hard-drive were more than acceptable. I do have reason to wonder why a pouch or case of some type was not offered with this product. It is very light and the finish, although nice, but also very smooth, allows the unit to slip out of your pocket very easily. A standard sized 1/4" plug would be a no-brainer add on as well. To be honest, the $125.00 spent has been some of the wisest money invested into my "mobile" audio in quite some time. Enjoy !

Strength

I welcomed the "user friendly" ripping and burning program. Fantastic medium. The actual discs themselves are efficent and re-recordable !!

Weakness

mini-jack headphone output, controls way too tiny, no strap, belt, holder of any kind to aid in the transportation of this "mobile" unit.

Summary

Everything I could possible want in a portable audio device for $150 CDN. It's a lot like an MP3 player. If you're looking for an MD player for a reasonable price, look no further.

Strength

Good compression on audio files allows you to cram in an amazing amount of audio into a single 74min MD. Conversion and transfer to MD is pretty fast. Sound quality is great. Lasts a long time on a single rechargable AA battery. Small, light-weight and simple.

Weakness

Software is a little buggy and unintuitive. Sony has really downplayed the MP3 side of this device, seeing how there isn't much mention of how to import MP3s. Howevever, it's easy enough to figure out. Other than that, there aren't really any weaknesses. Great player for $150 CDN.
